A jump in the Rhône was fatal to a teenager this Saturday. The young man of 16 years was found dead drowned at the end of the afternoon after having thrown himself from the bridge of Décines, commune of the metropolis of Lyon.
The alert was given around 3 p.m. by witnesses and friends of the victim, whose body was recovered two hours later by the mobilized rescue services. About twenty firefighters, including divers and dog teams, were engaged in the rescue operation.
If the circumstances of the drama were not specified by the firefighters, Le Progrès indicates that a group of adolescents, mostly footballers at FC Gerland, were bathing in an arm of the Rhône, when the victim, who resided in Lyon 9th, would have sank straight out of the Décines bridge. Le Progrès specifies that another body, unidentified, was drafted this Saturday morning in the Rhône, near the Gallieni bridge (Lyon 7th).
