SVT News Helsingborg has in recent days reviewed what went wrong with Valltorp's care home.

- It is important that we get an answer to the question how it can turn out that Valltorp was hit so hard, says Lars Thunberg (KD).

- We have said that we need to get to the bottom of this. The Health and Care Administration is now conducting its own investigation into how we handled the corona pandemic, and Valltorp will have special focus there.

- In addition, the Inspection for Health and Care (IVO) conducts an investigation based on reports received on Valltorp.

"We have received good information"

According to Lars Thunberg (KD), he and the board received information about the serious situation at Valltorp on May 18.

Shortly after, on May 19, the City of Helsingborg went out with a press release and talked about the situation to the public - almost a month after the first cases found at Valltorp (April 22).

By the time the press release went out, a majority of residents and employees had been infected by covid-19. 17 tenants had passed away.

Are you critical that you didn't know anything before?

- No, I don't see that I need exact numbers day by day, hour by hour. I feel confident that the administration has the resources needed.

- I don't think it made a big difference if I was told something the day before.

"Welcome Review"

The audit shows that protective equipment has been locked. Staff did not access it when a resident became ill. At the same time, it was said that there was no shortage of protective material?

- That's right. I've heard of that incident and this sounds serious. I do not know the details, but of course there must be available when needed.

Employees we talked to express anger that the management did not listen to their concerns before the coronan got a fix on the accommodation. What do you say to them?

- I have a great understanding of that frustration and anger. That there were flaws, I think for sure. That's why we welcome all review: from the media, from IVO, and from relatives and staff who hear from them, says Lars Thunberg (KD).
