• Basque Country: De Meer injured by a stone attack during a Vox rally in Sestao

The Ertzaintza has banned a protest demonstration against the Vox rally this Saturday afternoon in Irún , as reported by the Basque police.

The reason for the ban is the change of route that the protesters had requested in a second call of the same, to coincide the end of their demonstration with the time and place where Vox had decided to definitively celebrate its rally in Irún, in the Plaza Pío XII .

The Ertzaintza has specified that the ban on the march this afternoon was decided before the incidents this Friday at another Vox rally in Sestao, in which a deputy of this party, Rocío de Meer, was injured in an eyebrow.

Regarding these incidents yesterday, the Basque police have opened proceedings against three men as investigated - what was previously known as defendants - for their alleged participation in the incidents last night, and continues investigations to criminally clarify those who caused them.

As explained by the Basque police, the concentration of people in Sestao, who with their "aggressive and obstructionist attitude" tried to burst the meeting , had not been previously reported, as appropriate.

The Ertzaintza has recalled that the alteration of public order in an electoral act may constitute a crime, as established by the General Electoral Regime Law, which provides for penalties of 3 to 12 months.
