“The New York Times’s baseless and anonymous allegations of Moscow as the organizer of the killing of US soldiers in Afghanistan have already led to direct life threats against Russian embassy staff in Washington and London,” Twitter said.
The embassy emphasized that the newspaper is trying to invent new fake stories for the “accusation of Russians”, lacking real information about the cooperation between Russia and the United States on a settlement in Afghanistan.
Earlier, Russian ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov and US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad discussed the coordination of the two countries' approaches to Afghanistan.
