30 January 2016Tragic murder-suicide case in Umbria. For the carabinieri investigating, what the father stabbed his children and then committed suicide by jumping into the well behind the house is the most likely hypothesis to explain what happened in Vaiano, a small village in the municipality of Castiglione del Lago on the border between Umbria and Tuscany.

The two sons of the man, 8 and 13 years old, were found dead in their home. Outside, inside a well, the father was also found dead.

The man was called Maurilio Palmerini. He would have stabbed his two children (the male, Ubert, 13 years old, and the female, Giulia, 9 years old) and then killed himself by throwing himself into the well twenty meters deep in the courtyard behind his house. A neighbor told reporters that he saw him leave home upset, that he approached him and heard him say a phrase: "Do you realize what I did to my children? Now I throw myself", and then went to throw himself into the well, without the neighbor being able to stop him.

Palmerini - always according to what the neighbors told reporters - in the past had worked as a representative of drugs and as a worker. He was currently unemployed and kept doing small jobs. The neighbors who rushed to the scene this morning describe him as an "honest and respectable person".
