A federal court in the US state of Virginia has sentenced 10-year-old former adviser to Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Lebanese American businessman, George Nader, for sexual exploitation of children.

This ruling came after a deal with Nader that confessed that he possessed child pornography and travel with a child from the Czech Republic to the United States and sexual exploitation.

Nader faces other charges in a federal court in Washington, DC, related to leaking foreign financial contributions to the two campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in 2016.

Nader, 61, who is considered one of the most prominent witnesses in the case of Russia's interference in the recent US presidential elections, said he apologized for any pain or suffering he caused to his child victims.

Settlement deal

"I am very proud of my professional life and the work I have done for the United States, but I honestly, very sorry for the pain and suffering that I have caused," the Washington Post quoted him as saying after the ruling.

According to reports, Nader agreed to pay $ 150,000 in compensation to the abused Czech boy, who is now an adult, and testified at the verdict hearing on Friday in the US court by phone.

The newspaper pointed out that the ruling is based on a deal that was presented to Nader from the public prosecutors, and that the judge has the freedom to issue a larger sentence, especially since sexual exploitation of children whose sentence in US laws reaches 30 years in prison.

Nader is one of the witnesses involved in Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election, and he played a role in Donald Trump's election campaign.

Earlier, the Politico Magazine revealed that Nader worked as an intermediary between Trump's advisors and Mohamed bin Zayed, as well as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
