As the Covid-19 epidemic weakens in France, blood donations are once again authorized. But they are now supervised by a new device to prevent any risk of contamination.

On June 14, the French Blood Establishment (EFS) launched an SOS to encourage the French to donate blood. Due to the health crisis, the reserves have indeed run out because mobile collections in universities and businesses were no longer authorized. Today, it is again possible to donate blood under certain conditions, given the improved health situation linked to Covid-19.

On site, EFS staff and donors must respect barrier gestures: hand washing and wearing a mask provided by staff. The donor must also submit to a temperature measurement. Beforehand, it is strongly recommended that you complete an online questionnaire to find out whether or not you are eligible for blood donation.

A questionnaire to fill out

This document provides for example questions related to the age of the donor. He must be at least 18 years of age and under 70 years of age. Weight, date of last blood donation, serious or chronic medical history must also be entered. In the event of proven symptoms of Covid-19, traces of the virus may also be found in the blood, making it impossible to donate blood.

This questionnaire, available online at dondesang.efs.sante.fr, aims to indicate to the donor whether he can travel to the collection center.
