The virus knows no borders or race, but statistics show that African Americans are “more likely to die of new coronary pneumonia” than other ethnic groups.

According to data released by the American research institute APM Research Laboratory on the 10th of this month, as of the 9th, the cumulative deaths of African Americans with new coronary pneumonia reached 25,000, accounting for 24.3% of the total deaths in the United States. This proportion is almost twice the proportion of African Americans in the total population of the United States (12.4%).

How to explain this disproportionate phenomenon? What does this reflect the situation of African Americans?

Anthony Fudge, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said at a hearing held at the US House of Representatives on the 23rd that systemic racism in American society is a major cause of this situation. In addition, the low socioeconomic status and lack of medical resources are also the main reasons why African Americans have been hit hard during the new crown epidemic.

As Fudge said, from the perspective of public health, African American households have a small per capita living area, many families live in the same family for four generations, and the risk of virus transmission within the family is high; many African Americans are engaged in blue collar jobs and cannot live at home Office work, high exposure risk; many African-Americans cannot purchase medical insurance due to economic reasons, and cannot be detected and treated in time after being infected with the virus; many African-Americans who died of new coronary pneumonia suffer from basic diseases, which is difficult to treat Large; some African Americans lack personal protection awareness and supplies.

From the perspective of government response, the current US government was insufficiently prepared at the initial stage of the epidemic and responded slowly, and did not take targeted assistance measures for African American groups. What makes African-Americans even more dissatisfied is that the federal government even split the parties when distributing anti-epidemic materials to the states. African-Americans living in the Democratic Party also have to suffer from the party struggle.

It can be said that the "political commander" of the current US government not only did not lend a helping hand in time, but further amplified the vulnerability of African Americans.

It must be seen that the current awful situation faced by African Americans is not caused by the New Crown epidemic, but it has been formed for a long time. It is caused by the imbalanced development of various ethnic groups in the American society and the widening gap between the rich and the poor. Ethnic minorities represented by African Americans are systematically forgotten and neglected, racial discrimination occurs from time to time, and the problem of structural imbalances in American society is very prominent.

Right now, all 50 states in the United States have entered the restart phase, and many African Americans have to return to work in order to survive, which also objectively increases their risk of contracting the virus. The actual survival of African Americans may become more dangerous due to restarts.

Under the double pressure of epidemic situation and racism, "people's ownership, people's rule, people's enjoyment" seems to have become an empty talk in the United States. African-American media person Danielle Belton said ironically in an interview with MSNBC, "The White House does not care about all the deaths of new coronary pneumonia. How can it be particularly concerned about the experience of African Americans?"

For each individual of African descent, whether or not he can survive the new crown epidemic can only be "made by fate". (Finish)
