As noted in the statement, Kiev strongly condemns the "facts of the unlawful organization" of voting on the peninsula, which "contradicts the fundamental norms and principles of international law."

Ukraine, the ministry emphasized, appeals to international partners to condemn the organization of voting in Crimea, "including by increasing sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation."

Earlier it was reported that the head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov took part in the vote on the Constitution.

Crimea became the Russian region after a referendum held in March 2014, in which most residents spoke out for reunification with Russia.
