The investigation into a thwarted settling of accounts in Marseilles led to the discovery of a veritable arsenal of war and the indictment of five people, including one “eminent actor in Marseilles narco-banditry”.

The arms depot discovered on Monday in Marignane (Bouches-du-Rhône) contained 18 weapons in total, 11 automatic pistols and above all seven rifles, including six assault rifles, notably Kalashnikovs. A significant seizure knowing that over the whole of 2019, 150 weapons had been seized throughout the department, said Eric Arella, the interregional director of the judicial police, during a conference of hurry.

Nine men arrested

In this "nanny" apartment in Marignane, the investigators also discovered 65 kg of cannabis resin and 16,700 euros in cash, said the prosecutor of the Republic of Marseille, Dominique Laurens.

This police operation, carried out within the framework of a judicial investigation for association of criminals with a view to a voluntary homicide, a project of settlement of accounts in this case, in July 2019, also allowed the arrest of nine men , also Monday, in the northern districts of Marseille.

Three of them were brought on Thursday before the investigating judge, then released under judicial supervision. Two others were referred on Friday, including this "eminent actor in Marseilles narco-banditism", in the words of Eric Arella. The public prosecutor's office requested their placement under a deposit warrant.
