TESTIMONY
Gaëtan is 20 years old and is autistic Asperger's. He obtained a Bac Pro Commerce apprenticeship. He recounts having spent two difficult years because his boss did not understand his handicap. The latter would have even made fun of him when he told him he wanted to take a BTS. On "La Libre antenne" of Europe 1, Gaëtan relates the problems encountered with his current boss to Olivier Delacroix who advises him to find another apprenticeship contract.

"I am 20 years old. I am in my Bac Pro Commerce terminal. I did it in apprenticeship by doing a week at the CFA (Apprenticeship Training Center) and a week in the company. I want to do a BTS to develop in the field of the trade. I went to see my boss to ask him if he agreed to take me back, but he laughed at me. He said that I wanted to steal his place. He was dead laughing.
" I am recognized as a disabled worker "According to him, it is useless to do a BTS when you have the bac and if I did this BTS, I would steal his place. It was his reaction and he was serious. He is in his forties. It is quite special. He's my supervisor at the supermarket. I benefit from an RQTH (Recognition of the quality of disabled worker), because I am recognized as a disabled worker. But I work very well, I am a very serious person. I apply myself to work.
It was two rather special years, because my boss did not understand my problem. I have autism Asperger's. For example, he did not understand that I had trouble doing certain tasks, sometimes I was a little slower, sometimes I was left alone. I told my parents about it. They told me it might be time to change companies since I'm going to take a BTS.

I started this bac in 2018 with a manager who unfortunately closed his store. It was going very well with him. He understood me, we got along very well. Then I ended up there, with this boss, and it was very hard. He kept thinking about my work. I am annoyed because the condition to register for the CFA is that I find a business. This is where the lessons take place. I am looking for a boss who could welcome me.
I posted CVs everywhere a week ago. I live in the Alpes-Maritimes. I have applied to Grasse, Cannes, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Nice and Mandelieu-la-Napoule. I can work in any big box, but also in more specialized stores like phone shops, since it is a BTS Management of business units. During the two years of BTS, I intend to put money aside and after taking an audiovisual BTS. I'm passionate about the media. "
