“Russia's position on the prospects for the next meeting of the Norman format leaders is unchanged,” Nechaev said.

The ambassador noted that the intra-Ukrainian conflict in the Donbass will help to resolve the full implementation of the Minsk agreements, and not the number of events held.

“The lack of real progress lies in Kiev’s stubborn reluctance to engage in direct dialogue with Donetsk and Lugansk, which puts off the prospects for the next Norman summit,” he said.

Earlier, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba announced the desire of Kiev to “revive” the Norman format and achieve peace in the Donbass.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended that Norman-format countries give up political games and focus on negotiations to resolve the situation in the Donbass.

Boris Gryzlov, the plenipotentiary to represent Russia in the contact group for the Donbass, noted that Kiev had disrupted the coordination of new areas for the separation of forces in the region and refused to take additional ceasefire measures.
