China News Service, June 25. According to an Associated Press report on the 24th, Sergey Khrushchev, the son of Soviet leader Khrushchev, died of a gunshot wound at his home in Rhode Island, USA, at the age of 84.

  Rhode Island Forensic Office spokesman Joseph Wendelken said his death was due to a gunshot wound to his head. "There are currently no signs of external violations," Rhode Island Cranston police officer Todd Patarano said on the 24th.

  Patalano said that on the morning of June 17, the police rushed to his home after receiving a call from Sergey's wife. Sergey was declared dead on the spot. Patalano said the investigation was closed and no criminal charges were filed.

  Sergey was a rocket scientist in the Soviet Union and moved to Rhode Island in 1991 to teach at Brown University. He and his wife Valentina joined American citizenship in July 1999.

  Valentina told the Russian TASS News Agency that Sergey's funeral will be held in Moscow in October.
