• Tribuna.Open letter from Juan Guaidó and the Venezuelan opposition to former President Zapatero: "You are an ally of the usurper who oppresses us, who murders us"

The letter against José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, published in EL MUNDO.es, fell yesterday like a bomb in political Venezuela. "We regret that you have positioned yourself, without any makeup, in the defense of the satraps," shot the main democratic leaders of Parliament, without any ambiguity, after four and a half years of the controversial landing of the former President of the Spanish Government in the oil country.

Zapatero's reprimand is underwritten by the seven main parties of the democratic opposition , ranging from right to left. Among them, the three that are part of the Socialist International: Democratic Action (AD), Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT) and Voluntad Popular.

"You are an ally of the usurper who oppresses us, who murders us," continues the letter, which seeks above all that the democratic forces and the Spanish, "the friendly Spain, the motherland, knew of the tragedy that Zapatero has meant for Venezuela, "confirms EL MUNDO.es Carlos Berrizbeitia , vice president of the National Assembly (AN) and one of the signatories.

"It is reliable and public proof of our rejection of Zapatero, who instead of facilitator was an agent of the regime, always in favor of Maduro," added the deputy.

"This man is an unfortunate circumstance in our country, when the world still did not understand what was happening in Venezuela. Zapatero claimed that for the 2018 presidential elections we blindly accepted a proposal from the regime to perpetuate the dictator Maduro in power. That Julio Borges, who was the president of Parliament at the time, was exiled, "criticizes this newspaper Delsa Solórzano, another of the signatories to the letter, president of Encuentro Democrático and deputy head of the opposition parliamentary group.

When in 2018 Zapatero was declared by Parliament as "inadmissible" for a negotiation, there were doubts in several parties, even the margin was narrow among those who were for and against. Delsa Solórzano herself abstained then. Today there is no longer any doubt. "At that time I did not want Zapatero to divide us. Now we are facing an ally of the regime, a lobbyist who disseminates the dictator's positions. It was important for Spain to know the truth," insists the deputy.

"From a political point of view, the letter confirms what was already in the environment: the lack of confidence in Zapatero. Previous conflicts of interest had been detailed previously, beginning with the case of Ambassador Raúl Morodo and continuing with other businesses of the former president. in Caracas, which lead to the conclusion that Zapatero is not a reliable actor, "says internationalist Mariano de Alba .

Jekill and Hyde in Caracas

"For me there was never a doubt about his role as agent of Maduro, the regime's Celestina, an element that has tried to entangle the opposition. As in the work of Óscar Wilde, 'Doctor Jekill and Mr. Hyde', I cannot understand How can you be a democrat in Spain and accompany in Venezuela a fierce and brutal offensive against freedom, democracy and decency? In Spain no one would doubt that Zapatero is a democrat, but why in Venezuela does he endorse authoritarianism? "asks Luis Salamanca , a political scientist and former rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE).

"It is a very sad role, but it no longer has the legitimacy to assume an arbitration role," concludes Salamanca.

The anti-shoemaker front has also had a cathartic effect within the opposition in its worst historical moment. "The most important thing about this initiative is the signing of the union, in the end," said David Sosa, student leader.

"I agree with the letter. The relevant thing is that it joined the AN in signatures, which, although it happened under the table, had a little time that did not happen," says analyst Félix Seijas , director of Delphos.

Almost total unanimity in the democratic field, with the exception of the collaborationist parties, among them the one led by Timoteo Zambrano, Zapatero's man in Caracas. The groups of the so-called Mesita del Dialogue are already moving their pieces in search of candidates to launder their bet for the parliamentary elections due to their proximity to the government.

The promises are of all kinds: from the financial financing of the campaigns to the salaries that new deputies who come out of the fraudulent elections will receive in the future. The pre-campaign has already started.
