The National Rugby League, which is establishing the schedule for the Top 14 2020-2021, has said it is ready to accept to extend the international window of the fall to increase it to five dates, learned Thursday l 'AFP from source close to the file, confirming information from RMC.

The XV of France can therefore play five games, against three initially scheduled: Georgia on November 7, Australia on 14 and South Africa on 21.

The Blues of Fabien Galthié have yet to face Ireland, in a late match in the Six Nations Tournament, or even Argentina, because of the July tour. Oppositions against Fiji and Japan were also raised.

The Federation wanted six dates and the League was more in favor of three, but the two bodies agreed due to the exceptional situation linked to the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

This step forward will still have to be validated by the two authorities, who will meet again Friday morning to discuss it.

According to RMC, French professional clubs are also willing to release 42 players to help the France team prepare for its matches. And, as in the last tournament, 14 players would return to their club mid-week.

On June 30, World Rugby must decide to redesign the international calendar to finish the 2020 season.

"Our role is to facilitate a result that is good for everyone. We listen to and understand the opinions of all stakeholders," said instance director general Brett Gosper.

"It is important that the process recognizes and supports the needs of clubs and federations," he added.
