The defense of Nordahl Lelandais announced Thursday to AFP that it will not appeal the order of impeachment of the magistrates of Chambéry requesting the referral of the thirty-something before the assize court of Savoy for the murder of Arthur Noyer.
"Although disputing the homicidal intention", the lawyer of Nordahl Lelandais, Me Alain Jakubowicz, specified in a statement that this decision had been taken "not to delay the date of the trial". "The debate on the legal qualification will take place contradictorily before the assize court", added the counsel for the defendant of 37 years. The trial will take place in 2021, according to concordant sources, without a more precise date being able to be advanced for the moment.
Death following a fight
Put under investigation for assassination at first in December 2017, Nordahl Lelandais had recognized in March 2018 a fight between him and Arthur Noyer which had led to the death of the corporal of 23 years, member of the 13th Battalion of Alpine hunters. The Chambéry public prosecutor's office requested last February that he be returned to the Assize Court for "murder" and the investigating judges followed the prosecution's requests last week, therefore excluding any premeditation in the criminal act.
According to Nordahl Lelandais, the events took place in Saint-Baldoph, near Chambéry, on the night of April 11 to 12, 2017, after having hitched the soldier from Bourges, leaving a nightclub in the downtown Chambéry.
Nordahl Lelandais is also under investigation for the murder of Maëlys De Araujo, and for sexual assault on three little cousins.
