After a long administrative battle, a village in Puy-de-Dôme has managed to recover its real name. At the end of the 1950s, the name of this town became "Villosanges", instead of Villossanges, reports La Montagne . This spelling error was finally changed by decree, no less than sixty years later.

Two-year administrative battle

"It's stupid like cabbage, but we are super happy!" We had the unpleasant feeling that our last name was constantly flayed, ”says Laurent Battut, municipal councilor of Villossanges. For years, the two spellings cohabited in this commune. "The inhabitants are called the Villossangeois, the road signs posted at the four corners of the commune proudly display their two 's', the town hall website also claims its real name, and yet the commune is officially spelled Villosanges on the INSEE site ”, explained the mayor, Jean-Luc Chapelain.

In all likelihood, this error was due to an administrative typo. It took two years to restore the name of this village. Deliberation in the municipal council and consultation of the departmental archives, the Departmental Council, the prefect and the Prime Minister made this modification possible.
