Méthodes d'interpellations des forces de l'ordre: Castaner auditionné au Sénat

Faced with the Senate Law Commission, Christophe Castaner reaffirmed his desire to prohibit in the police academy the teaching of the technique of strangulation to challenge an individual.

Both because it seems dangerous, but because if I teach someone a method that one day may cause them to be liable before a judge, I think I am committing a fault. And I also want to protect them by not teaching them this technique which could lead them tomorrow to a judge,  ”insisted the minister.

To find a substitution technique, Christophe Castaner wishes to draw inspiration from what is already being done with the gendarmes, who are no longer taught the technique of strangulation.

And so I gave a very short time - two and a half months  - for a working group, which was set up a few days ago, which brings together a doctor from the RAID, a forensic doctor, a police officer moreover judoka, - I think it's about twenty people  - can define the means, the alternative techniques, because like you, I don't want the police to be disarmed in their intervention capacities  , "explained the minister.

Substitution techniques will then be taught to the police during training in the coming months. In the meantime, Christophe Castaner recalls that the technique of strangulation can continue to be applied.
