Italian authorities identified two new outbreaks of Covid-19 in Bologna (center) and near Caserta (south), where the army was sent to ensure that the inhabitants comply with the containment measures , local press sources reported on Thursday.

At the request of the authorities in the southern region of Campania, hundreds of soldiers were deployed who control the "red zone" in Mondragone, 60 kilometers north of Naples.

In that town, 49 people residing in a popular area tested positive for the virus on Thursday. In total 700 people have been isolated in their housing blocks to prevent the spread of contagion in that region, among the least affected by the pandemic.

Most of the residents are Bulgarian migrants, who work in agriculture and fear losing their job as they are day laborers in the fields, local media explained. Some inhabitants came out to protest what the mayor of Mondragone, Virgilio Pacifico, called on the population to respect the measures.

In Bologna , in the center of the peninsula, forty-six cases, among them 44 asymptomatic, were registered among the personnel of a warehouse of the company Servírituga Bartolini (BRT), said the newspaper Rest del Carlino. Two drivers are among those infected, so the tank was closed.

Italy, the first country especially affected by the coronavirus after China, for months was the epicenter of the pandemic and has paid a heavy price with 34,644 deaths , half in the north of the peninsula, and 239,410 infected , according to the latest figures from The authorities.

The virus, which is now under control after almost three months of confinement, has killed 18 and 30 people, respectively, in the last two days. Two weeks ago, two outbreaks of contagion appeared in Rome, causing alarms to go off.

Health authorities continue to express their concern about a second wave of infections on the peninsula, as the population seems to have lost their fear of the pandemic and ignores precautions.
