As of June 27, new travel rules apply in Denmark. Among other things, they open their borders to people from Skåne, Halland, Blekinge, Sörmland and Västerbotten.

Thus, some Swedes are soon welcomed to Denmark, something that goes hand in hand with the Foreign Ministry's travel advice to the country, which is valid until 15 July.

- So far, Denmark is not on the list for countries where the travel advice is claimed, so the advice applies to all Swedes right now, says Catarina Axelsson, press secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Insurance is different

Catarina Axelsson explains that when traveling to countries that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends, there is a risk that personal insurance will not apply.

Some insurance companies cover illness cases linked to covid-19. Others have no protection for injuries linked to the reason that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against travel there, which in Denmark's case is the corona virus.

- It is important to check with your insurance company if you still choose to travel there, says Catarina Axelsson.

Travel advice in coronation times

Catarina Axelsson explains that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' travel advice to different countries has been determined based on the restrictions each country has.

In the countries where travel restrictions have been lifted, there were no special restrictions for travelers from Sweden at the time of the decision. At that time, Denmark had a general entry ban that still applies to most Swedes.

- But we are constantly looking at developments in Europe and the advice may change, says Catarina Axelsson, adding:

- It is a recommendation and no travel ban. How you choose to do is your personal responsibility, says Catarina Axelsson.
