25 June 2020We risk "one of the most terrible autumns in our history". This is the alarm of the retired FIM CISL general secretary , Marco Bentivogli , from the metalworkers' demonstration in Piazza del Popolo: "social despair will skyrocket," he says.

"If you put the ban on layoffs and then there are hundreds of thousands of companies that bring books to court - Bentivogli says - I want government officials to respond one by one to those workers what served the blockade of layoffs" .

"We don't have time anymore. If the industrial situation is not addressed, we have to appropriate the squares to demonstrate all our dissent." This was stated by the Uilm Secretary General , Rocco Palombella , who asked the Government for "more concreteness, fewer General States and more direct interventions to safeguard and relaunch the industrial, educational, social and economic system" during the demonstration of the metalworkers Fim, Fiom and Uilm in Piazza del Popolo. "Only with subsidies will the country not restart," says Palombella.

Palombella fears "with the alibi of Coronavirus, an unprecedented social and occupational catastrophe".

"The condition of the more than 150 industrial crises open to the MISE - underlines the leader of Uilm - has further worsened. The automotive sector has stopped, the steel industry and aerospace are in great difficulty, such as household appliances, telecommunications, small and medium-sized enterprises and crafts. The latest, in chronological order, is CNH which yesterday said it wanted to question the agreement of 10 March 2020, with the strong risk of closing the Brescia and Lecce sites ".

"The CISL today supports the just protest of the metalworkers who deserve more attention and respect from institutions and companies. Too many company crises that have been going on for years. The government takes a hit by supporting investments and Federmeccanica takes the path of constructive dialogue on the contract". The secretary general of the CISL , Annamaria Furlan , writes on twitter about the demonstration of Fim, Fiom and Uilm, taking place in Rome.

Female workers and metal workers return to the streets "to reaffirm the centrality of work." It is we who keep open factories, more business, "says the general secretary of Fiom , Francesca King David from the event with Fim Cisl and Uilm." Starting again from 100 disputes to be resolved for industry and work. "" If some factories are still open, starting from the Whirlpool in Naples it is because we have kept them open ", claims King David asking to participate in the solution of the disputes," not knowing in the end how it went.

"" We went on strike to close the factories - says King David - during the Covid emergency and to secure the factories and the country. Now let's say that the blocking of layoffs until 17 August is not enough, layoffs are not enough, we need to rethink social administrators linked to the reduction of hours and training, to the blocking of layoffs as long as necessary and to the resolution of the crises in which we want to be part , not knowing in the end how it went ".
