Investigating judges will resume investigations against Élysée secretary general Alexis Kohler, suspected of conflicts of interest because of his links with the Italian-Swiss shipowner MSC, at the request of the anti-corruption association Anticor , AFP learned on Wednesday from concordant sources.

This judicial information was opened on Monday, added these sources, confirming information from Mediapart. A first preliminary investigation had been dismissed by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office in August 2019 after the publication of a second report by the ethics committee, the body responsible for monitoring the departure of public officials, and certain agents of private law, who plan to work in the private sector and in the competitive public sector.

Anticor brought a civil action in the Kohler case after the classification by the prosecution. An investigating judge will therefore be appointed. https://t.co/4oSp7RO47K

“While a damning first investigative report had been written by the police on June 7, 2019, a second report, saying the exact opposite, was signed on July 18, 2019. Meanwhile, on July 1, a certificate of 'Emmanuel Macron landed at the National Financial Prosecutor's Office responsible for conducting the investigation,' wrote Mediapart in its investigation on Tuesday. To relaunch the investigations, Anticor then filed a lawsuit with a civil action on December 4.
