In Luleå, there has been no spread of covid-19 infection in elderly care. And since the outbreak of the virus, in early March, only one person has died in the corona virus.

But now the head of operations in elderly care, Anna Fors, is alerting to a trend that can cause the spread of infection - namely that more and more people are choosing to bring their elderly home.

Hug instead of distance

There is still a prohibition on visiting all elderly homes in Luleå, but the municipality can never prevent a family member from bringing home their mother or father. However, it is okay to be seen outdoors as long as you keep your distance, but even there, staff have reported that many people ignore the restrictions of the Public Health Authority and instead are kissed and hugged well.

In the video above you can hear what the risks are if this continues, and how to "corona safe".

The same trend in several municipalities

But Luleå is not the only municipality that has problems with close relatives who ignore the recommendations. Greger Bengtsson, coordinator in elderly care in Sweden's municipalities and regions (SKR), says that he has been in contact with several municipalities where many take their elderly for a walk without thinking of keeping a distance and instead hugging and kissing.

- If you can't maintain this, it will be a problem, says Greger Bengtsson, coordinator in elderly care at SKR.
