The lawyer Alex Ursulet, accused of rape by a former trainee, was placed in police custody Tuesday in Paris, we learned Wednesday from the prosecution, confirming information from Mediapart. This famous criminal lawyer, former defender of serial murderer Guy Georges or former mayor of Grenoble Alain Carignon, was confronted this Wednesday morning with the woman who accused him and "everyone stayed on their positions", specifies a close source folder. Me Ursulet's lawyers were not immediately available to respond.

The 63-year-old lawyer, a former RPR regional adviser in Martinique, is the subject of a preliminary investigation opened after the complaint for "rape" and "sexual harassment" filed in mid-October by a young 27-year-old woman, also a lawyer. The latter had completed an internship in her Paris office in January 2018 as part of her training.

Me Ursulet filed a complaint for “slanderous denunciation”

In her complaint, revealed by Mediapart, the young woman recounts having been attacked in the office of Alex Ursulet, after a lunch during which the latter would have been urgent. She produces witness certificates and copies of text messages.

Me Ursulet for his part complained for “slanderous denunciation”, but also for “false” and “attempted trial fraud”. The Bar Council, seized of the facts, removed him from the Paris bar on December 31 after a disciplinary investigation, and Me Ursulet appealed this decision. Former partner of Jacques Vergès and son of the former president of Fort-de-France, Alex Ursulet made himself known by getting his client Guy Georges to publicly confess his crimes during his assault trial in 2001.
