2:30 p.m. yesterday (24th) local time, the Panoa Frontier, a fishing vessel in Ghana, with five Korean sailors on the offshore coast of Benin, West Africa, was attacked.

Dryad Global, a British maritime safety information company that collects and delivers maritime accident information, reports that several gangsters with guns were attacking the fishing boat Panopy Frontier on the southern coast of the Beno Conotu harbor.

The gangsters are said to have kidnapped five Korean sailors and one Ghanaian sailor and moved eastward into the Nigerian waters.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said five South Korean sailors have been kidnapped and their safety has not been confirmed.

Benin Africa, where the accident occurred, is adjacent to Guinea Bay, which has many international vessels passing by routes to Europe and the Atlantic Ocean.

In particular, it has been recently cited as one of the most frequent pirate ships in the world, with all six ship abduction incidents occurring in the world last year.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was aware of the details of the incident, including the safety of the crew.

We will keep you informed as new news arrives.
