The European Union is considering preventing entry of nationals of the United States and other countries, at a time when the specter of a second wave of the Corona epidemic haunts some parts of the world.

While the World Health Organization has warned that the spread of the virus is accelerating, a senior American expert has reported that tests for a possible vaccine for Corona are in their final stages.

Al-Jazeera correspondent Abdullah Al-Shami said that after a meeting of the European Commission, it is expected to issue a list of about 50 countries whose citizens will be allowed to enter the European Union, while nationals of countries that will not be on the list will not be allowed.

The reporter added that the list - non-mandatory - was deliberated at a meeting of the interior ministers of the 27 European Union countries two weeks ago, noting that every member state of the European Union is free to allow or prevent entry of nationals of other countries.

The European Commission was quoted as saying that the list will be issued after consultation, and pointed out that the frequency of the spread of the Coruna virus is one of the main determinants in the inclusion of countries included in the denial of entry.

He pointed out that there is talk about countries that record a limited spread of the Corona virus like Sub-Saharan countries and Cuba will be on the list, while it may not include other countries that witness a widespread outbreak of the epidemic such as the United States and countries in Latin America such as Brazil.

The New York Times reported on Tuesday that the European Union is studying the hypothesis of preventing Americans from entering its territories because of what he described as the failure of the President Donald Trump's administration to control the outbreak of the Corona virus.

The newspaper pointed out that it had seen the draft lists prepared by the Union regarding citizens who can enter its countries starting from the first of next July, and said that these lists do not include the citizens of the United States, Russia and Brazil, while it included countries such as China, Venezuela, Uganda, Cuba and Vietnam.

The New York Times saw the absence of the United States on that list as a blow to American prestige, and rejected the way Trump dealt with the virus that infected two million and 300 thousand Americans and caused the deaths of more than 120 thousand others.

In March, when cases were escalating in Europe, Trump prevented most EU citizens from entering the United States in an attempt to stem the spread of the disease.

A second wave
Meanwhile, the director of the American National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fuchi and other health officials, expected Tuesday that the United States will see in the coming fall and winter a second wave of the Coruna epidemic.

During a session of the House of Representatives Energy and Trade Committee, officials stressed the need to prepare for this potential wave that may occur during the cold weather, as the possibility of transmission of infection among people increases in their homes.

In Europe, which is witnessing a gradual lifting of isolation measures, including opening borders and resuming most economic and cultural activities, fears of a new outbreak of Corona virus prevail after a sharp decline in infections and deaths in countries such as Italy, Spain and France.

In Germany, on Tuesday, more than 600,000 people were quarantined in the state of North Rhine, after 1,500 people were injured and thousands were isolated after the infection spread from a meat factory there. This comes after the re-imposition of partial restrictions in Lisbon, which raised fears for the tourist season in Portugal.

In Italy, health authorities fear a second wave of injuries, due to the general inaction of people in taking the necessary precautions.

In Southeast Asia, South Korea acknowledged on Tuesday that it had faced since mid-May a second wave of the epidemic, with 35 to 50 new daily cases recorded, mostly in and around the capital, Seoul.

The virus continues to spread at a high rate in countries such as Brazil, where the number of infected people has exceeded one million and 150 thousand cases, including about 53 thousand deaths, and the outbreak continues in the United States with a high rate, as the total number of infections exceeded one million and 310 thousand cases, including more than 123 thousand deaths.

US President Donald Trump again underestimated the risk of the virus outbreak, saying that the rise in infections was due to the expansion of tests, but the governors of states like Texas and Florida acknowledged that this was not the only reason.

Globally, the number of injuries worldwide increased to more than 9 million and 340 thousand injuries, including more than 5 million recovered and 479 thousand deaths.

As for the Arabs, Iraq recorded the highest number of deaths on Tuesday (84 deaths), and the lowest deaths were recorded in Algeria and Kuwait, while Tunisia did not record new injuries after it finally saw several injuries, all of them arriving.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tiedros Adhanum Gebresus, confirmed that the spread of the new Corona virus is still accelerating in the world, and said that "the epidemic is much more than an economic and social crisis, and not just a health crisis," adding that in many countries a political crisis, and that its effects It will appear for decades to come.

For his part, Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, criticized the lack of coordination at the international level in dealing with the Corona epidemic.

Potential vaccine
In Washington, director of the American National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, said Tuesday that a possible new vaccine for the Corona virus will enter the third phase of testing next month.

"The new vaccine has shown positive results," added Fauchi during a session of the House of Representatives Energy and Trade Committee.

And after several clinical trials, several countries, including the United States, China, Britain, and international companies, announced promising signs for the production of an anti-retroviral vaccine.

The epidemic has officially claimed the lives of at least 469,60 people in the world and injured more than 9 million, of whom 4 million and 200,000 have recovered, since China announced its appearance last December.

As of Tuesday evening, the number of Corona sufferers in the world exceeded 9 million and 285 thousand, of whom more than 476 thousand had died, and more than 4 million and 996 thousand had recovered, according to the WorldMeter website.

Arab countries

Iraq announced, on Tuesday, 84 deaths in Corona, while Qatar recorded 1176 cases of the virus, bringing the total number of cases to about 90,000.

The Qatari Ministry of Health announced that 1,176 cases of the virus had been registered, in addition to 1545 people recovering.

In Kuwait, it was announced on Tuesday that four deaths had been registered in Corona, while Bahrain had recorded two deaths from the virus.

On Tuesday, Morocco announced 172 cases of corona infection, Somalia monitored 23 cases, and Palestine 12.

On Tuesday, Algeria recorded nine deaths in Corona, while Lebanon monitored 19 cases of the virus.

On Tuesday, Palestine announced that 79 cases of corona were recorded, and Jordan monitored five cases, while Tunisia had not recorded any cases of the virus.

America

In the United States, the country most affected by the virus, the toll on Monday has exceeded 120,000 deaths out of two million and 310,000 infections.

US President Donald Trump has continued to reduce concerns about the increasing number of Coronavirus infections in the United States, claiming that increased tests are the cause of the increase in cases, but rulers in the affected states have expressed greater concern.

And Texas Governor Greg Abbott called on citizens on Tuesday to stay in their homes, unless they have to go out of necessity, while Texas witnesses the highest number of new cases registered with the emerging coronavirus in one day.

Other state governors, such as Texas and Florida, have acknowledged an increase in HIV infections, but not only because of expanded tests.

And in Latin America, which has become the focus of the virus, Brazil remains the second country most affected by the epidemic in the world after the United States, with 51,271 deaths out of a million and 100,000 infections.

In Honduras, the small country in Central America with a population of 9 million, the official death toll is 300, but the burial office secretary, Jesus Moran, is five times more likely.

Restricting Hajj
As part of the fight against the epidemic, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday kept organizing the Hajj season as scheduled in late July.

However, only one thousand people of different nationalities residing in the Kingdom will be allowed to participate in the rituals this year, after about two million and 500 thousand people from all over the world arrived in Saudi Arabia in 2019 for the Hajj.
