Air pollution warning signs in Lille. - M.Libert / 20 Minutes

Pollution is back in Hauts-de-France. The high temperatures observed in recent days in the region have led to an increase in ozone pollution.

“Ozone is formed from other pollutants under the influence of sunshine and high temperatures. The concentrations of this pollutant have been increasing since Tuesday June 23 and should continue to increase for Wednesday June 24 and Thursday June 25, "explains Atmo, who monitors air quality in the region.

Poor air quality

In view of the forecast of air quality and weather conditions (maximum temperatures of 30 to 35 ° C, strong sunshine, weak wind), ozone concentrations should continue to increase and exceed the information threshold and recommendation for Thursday 25 June.

To combat this phenomenon, the prefecture recommends reducing the speed of its vehicle by 20 km / h on the road and motorway axes concerned. It is also recommended that sensitive people limit their outings and physical activities.
