According to the agency, on June 23, when considering complaints about the extension of home arrest for Calvi and other persons involved in the Baring Vostok case, Gridnev asked the court to pay attention to medical documents indicating the presence of an oncological disease in an American businessman.

At the end of December 2019, the UK announced the end of the investigation of the Baring Vostok case.

Calvi and other defendants are accused of embezzlement of 2.5 billion rubles from Vostochny Bank. They do not admit their guilt.

In January, business ombudsman Boris Titov turned to the new prosecutor general, Igor Krasnov, asking him to reconsider the position at the next extension of the preventive measure for the defendants in this case. 

Michael Calvey was sent under house arrest until August 13.
