“Russia is actively contributing to a direct dialogue between the parties - Kiev, Donetsk and Lugansk. However, the situation, unfortunately, is close to a dead end, ”the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry quoted him at the opening of the OSCE Annual Security Review Conference.

Grushko noted that as a result of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, 3.5 thousand civilians were killed and about 30 thousand people were injured, as well as “hundreds are missing and hundreds of thousands became internally displaced persons”.

In this regard, he called on the OSCE to more effectively use its capabilities to resolve the situation in the Donbass and to contribute to the preparation of a generalized report on civilian casualties in the region since 2014.

“We understand that the Special Monitoring Mission is under severe pressure from the host state and its patrons. But against the backdrop of data published by the UN, the dull silence of the mission becomes inexplicable, ”the deputy foreign minister emphasized.

Earlier, a spokesman for Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the situation around the Minsk agreements a potentially dangerous situation.
