The number of intensive care units is declining in Sweden. The authorities consider it okay to travel again. At the same time, experts say that there may be a second wave of infection.

- We have seen trends in several countries. I think we will see new waves in quite a few countries, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell at one of the Public Health Agency's press conferences.

He takes up the track again in an interview with Dagens Nyheter.

- This has been the case in several places, with local but fairly extensive distribution, the state epidemiologist tells the newspaper.

He refers to both an outbreak in Germany, but also one in Gällivare. But Anders Tegnell does not receive support from all colleagues.

Don't believe in a second wave

Björn Olsen, chief physician and professor of infectious disease, believes that it is possible to avoid outbreaks of any size that could be called a "second wave".

- If we test, trace and isolate, we will be able to avoid it, he tells SVT.

Researchers have so far not seen that the corona virus mutates like viruses in previous epidemics, causing the disease to recur.

- It is not at all similar to what you experienced during Spanish illness, when you really had a second wave. The virus returned in the autumn of 1918 in a completely new form and was considerably more aggressive. But we do not see any such trends in the cornavirus.

However, what several experts agree on is that we must continue to take great personal responsibility and follow the recommendations given to prevent the spread of infection.

Matti Sällberg, professor and vaccine researcher and Björn Olsen, chief physician and professor of infectious diseases, are interviewed in the video.
