During the night of Friday to Saturday, the police dispersed several hundred vehicles, whose drivers are suspected of having gathered to participate in wild rodeos, in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales).

The police thus went twice to commercial areas, where assemblies of vehicles had been reported. For the first time, more than a hundred cars were assembled in a parking lot. The police invited them to disperse, and 40 drivers were fined, said the police.

Up to a year in prison and a fine of 15,000 euros

An hour later, a new gathering of vehicles mobilized the police in another parking lot. The police have counted no less than 300 vehicles, which may have been dispersed there again, "despite the obvious ill will of some drivers", deplore the police services of the Pyrenees-Orientales. This time, 30 minutes were drawn up.

The departmental direction of public security of the Pyrénées-Orientales reminds that the recourse to the verbalization during such gatherings will be "systematic", and that the drivers are exposed to one year of imprisonment, fine 15.000 euros and the seizure of their vehicles.
