“The Kremlin proceeds from the president’s statement that amendments to the Constitution can only come into force after they are supported by voters during the vote,” Peskov answered the question if the Kremlin allowed a scenario in which Russians do not support the amendments to the Constitution.
To a clarifying question about whether there is a plan in case the amendments are not supported, Peskov said that "any vote implies two options."
“And only if these amendments are supported during the vote, they will come into force,” said Peskov.
Earlier, the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin said that all amendments to the Constitution are aimed at making Russia stronger and improving the well-being of citizens. He stressed that each amendment solves the problems of people and the country. Including the amendments offer quality affordable medical care and social support.
The all-Russian vote on constitutional amendments is scheduled for July 1. The co-chair of the working group Pavel Krasheninnikov said that this day will be declared a day off.
CEC Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova said that more than 108.5 million ballots were printed for a nationwide vote on constitutional amendments.
