On December 12, Putin accepted Levchenko’s resignation as governor of the Irkutsk region. Igor Kobzev was appointed interim head of the region.
Putin, commenting on the resignation of Levchenko, said that there were a large number of problems in Irkutsk. At the same time, he noted that he could not say that “Governor Levchenko worked very poorly there.” According to the president, "the situation that has developed is too complicated to work slowly."
