A 68-year-old man was sentenced Monday by the Angers Criminal Court to a suspended prison sentence of four months for cheating the French administration, reports Le Courrier de l'Ouest . This resident of Angers had recognized the paternity of the baby born to a young woman then aged 24 years. But it was a lie intended to protect the mother who was in an irregular situation at the time of the birth.

It is a municipal officer of a commune of Yonne who expressed doubts to his hierarchy upon reading the document, specifies Le Courrier de l'Ouest .

The 60-year-old recognized the false statement. The paternity error had, in any event, been demonstrated by DNA analysis.
