• Precedent: Ortiz agrees with Anticorruption

The businessman Enrique Ortiz has given a new blow of effect in the case on the fixing of the General Plan of Alicante, retracting 'in extremis' of the agreement signed with the Anticorruption prosecutor and the private accusation in which he admitted that he corrupted the former mayors Sonia Castedo and Luis Díaz Alperi to 'get' the urban map of the city.

Ortiz thus twists the matter just a week after the start of the trial, presenting a brief to the Alicante Provincial Court in which he says that he did not make gifts to both former politicians in exchange for obtaining a personal benefit.

Although the agreement was signed before the Public Ministry , the private accusations and the lawyer of the Justice Administration on April 21, it still had to be ratified before the magistrate at the beginning of the trial. Your decision may have been influenced by the fact that another court annulled the wiretapping that originated 'Brugal' three weeks ago in the Orihuela garbage plot case, where all the accused were acquitted.

The pact with the Anticorruption Prosecutor reduced the request for a sentence from 8 to two years in prison. Ortiz was facing a six-year petition for a bribery crime, which with the agreement reached was reduced to a year and a half; one year for influence peddling, which remained in six months and twelve months for a third crime of insider trading that was withdrawn.

In his accusation, the prosecutor Felipe Briones detailed how Castedo and his mentor, also former mayor Luis Díaz Alperi, delivered the urban planning of Alicante to Ortiz in exchange for cash, apartments, trips by private plane, gifts and paid vacations to Ibiza and Andorra. In total, according to the letter, Ortiz spent 259,900 euros in Castedo on his holidays to the islands and the Pyrenees and on a Mini brand car. That can be quantified, as pointed out by the prosecutor, who also highlighted the numerous commitments of the then mayor who attended as 'plugs'.

Alperi was more expensive, as reflected in the Anticorruption calculations. A total of 453,157 euros, of which 150,000 ended up in the apartments of the former politician's children and deliveries of cash of 60,000 euros.

In its brief, the Public Ministry presented Castedo and Alperi as two politicians totally bent on the interests of the builder who had no problem breaking the general interest for the benefit of their own. "Ortiz's gifts did not materialize in specific acts for each urban development treatment received, but in a permanent offer as soon as he thought they would be liked by them, or satisfying the interests as they were demanded," indicated the provisional rating. . In fact, he insisted, on one occasion Alperi "promised to take action on the matter (when a business was in danger for Ortiz) and to look after his interests on the ground."

Ortiz assumed this writing in its entirety.
