France has recorded 57 additional deaths linked to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the epidemic to 29,720, according to the report published on Tuesday by the Directorate General of Health (DGS) .

The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care continues to decrease with 682 patients, 19 less than Monday, according to a press release from the DGS.

Four regions (Ile de France, Grand-Est, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Hauts-de-France) account for 74% of patients hospitalized in intensive care.

The 57 new deaths announced on Tuesday bring the total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 to 19,232 in hospitals and 10,488 in social and medico-social establishments, including the Ehpad.

A total of 9,491 people are hospitalized for Covid-19 infection and 117 new admissions were recorded in 24 hours.

"While the epidemic situation is stable in mainland France, the circulation of the virus remains particularly active in Guyana," said the DGS. "Medical evacuations to the Antilles are notably being prepared to unclog the resuscitation services and relieve the health personnel," said the organization.

The virus continues to circulate on the territory, also warned the DGS, noting that 269 "clusters" (grouped cases) have been registered since May 9, including 7 new and 89 under investigation.

Since the start of the epidemic, 104,073 people have been hospitalized, including 18,313 in intensive care. 74,871 people returned home.
