There will be no bonfires on the Mediterranean beaches on the night of San Juan, nor can waves be jumped. The new normality has not made the virus disappear and the coastal towns of the Valencian Community have decided to take extreme precautions before the possibility that the agglomeration of people could cause outbreaks.

The access to the beaches will be screened from 20 hours this afternoon. They will be evicted and police devices have been designed to control that nobody can access. Still, the government delegate, Gloria Calero, yesterday appealed to "individual responsibility" to avoid taking steps back in the evolution of pandemic control.

In Valencia, the Local Police has designed a device with 192 officers, horseback units and drones to prevent access to the beaches of Las Arenas, La Malvarrosa, Pinedo, El Saler and El Perellonet. "The pandemic has not passed, we must continue to take precautions," warned the councilor for Citizen Protection, Aarón Cano. "We must not let our guard down, even if the state of alarm ends, the pandemic has not ended, " insisted the head of Security at the Town Hall.

On the Valencian beaches, the closing of accesses and the prohibition of entry to the beaches will be made from seven o'clock on Tuesday afternoon and not complying with the norm can lead to fines of up to 3,000 euros collected in the municipal ordinance.

Other municipalities such as Cullera , Gandía , Oliva or Sagunto will also prevent access to its beaches throughout the night.

San Juan palm

In Alicante the prohibition is especially painful. The city had to live its big party tonight with the ' cremà ' of the Hogueras de San Juan and the firing of the 'Palmera de San Juan' from the Benacantil mount, accompanied by a pyrotechnic show. The City Council maintains this shot, with more power so that it can be followed throughout the city, but asks citizens to follow it from their balconies and not go to the Postiguet beach as tradition dictates. 120 police officers will watch that nobody accesses the strip of sand.

In other municipalities such as Torrevieja, in addition to remembering the access ban from 8:30 pm, it is insisted that the fines for non-compliance can amount to 600 euros.
