The fire started shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday in a workshop at the EQIOM cement plant in Héming, in the Moselle region, on a site classified as Seveso high threshold. The incident would have started in a retention tank near the furnaces, according to information from France Bleu Lorraine Nord.

About 80 people were evacuated and two minor injuries were taken care of by the firefighters, without going to the hospital. The flames could be confined inside before being brought under control at around 3:20 p.m. No specific procedure had been started by the prefecture of Moselle, local radio said.
