The crisis support of SEK 39 billion was clubbed in Parliament last week. This is for companies that have reduced their sales by more than 30 percent during March and April due to corona.

The government estimates that around 180,000 companies meet the requirements for transition support. But during the first filing day on Monday, only 619 applications came in - which was significantly less than the Swedish Tax Agency had expected in advance.

- We initially thought that everyone would throw it over, but we landed in that it may be a realistic number on the first day. It is a lot of information that so many may enter into an application, but must check things out before submitting it, says Eva Bodén.

Cheating can result in imprisonment

The companies can be granted support of between SEK 5,000 and SEK 150 million. In order to counter fraud with the extensive support, a new criminal classification has been introduced: conversion support crime. Anyone convicted of serious crime carries up to six years in prison.

- The law is very clear and has provided great opportunities for control. It is probably daunting already when you read what the consequences can be if you cheat, but it is clear that there are always those who will try, says Eva Bodén.
