A young man of 19 years will be tried from Tuesday before the Assize Court of minors in Rennes for robbery with violence resulting in death. The facts took place on December 12, 2017 in the parking lot of the Gast shopping center, in the Maurepas district.
When they had just been shopping, an 87-year-old visually impaired man and his wife had been violently attacked by two individuals. One of them had torn off the bag held by the octogenarian. The latter had fallen back, his head hitting the ground. Victim of a head trauma, he was admitted to the neurosurgery department of the Rennes University Hospital where he died forty days later.
The facts reclassified as robbery with violence resulting in death
Suspected of another robbery the same day in the neighborhood, two brothers, aged 17 and 18, had been arrested on December 21, 2017. The minor, suspected of being robbed, had been presented before the prosecution and placed in pretrial detention for robbery before the facts are reclassified. The young man's trial is to be held until Thursday.
