22 June 2020After yesterday in Zadar, on the Croatian Dalmatian coast, the final of the charity tennis tournament Adria Tour, organized by Novak Djokovic, was canceled due to the positivity to the covid-19 of the Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov, three other participants were infected , including Croatian tennis player Borna Coric and Djokovic's coach. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, who traveled to Zadar for the tournament on Saturday and met Djokovic, as well as Croatians Cilic and Goran Ivanisevic, will also do the swab.

Dimitrov broke the news on social media when he returned to Monte Carlo, expressing his apologies and inviting all the people with whom he had been in contact to take the necessary measures. The final of the tournament, between Djokovic and the Russian Andrej Rubljov, was immediately canceled and the Croatian health authorities immediately imposed a series of tampons on the many people who came into contact with Dimitrov. In fact, after having participated in the first appointment of the Adria Tour in Belgrade a week ago, in Zadar he had contacts with hundreds and perhaps thousands of people.

So far, Croatian tennis player Coric, Marko Paniki, one of Djokovic's coaches, and Christian Groh, coach of Dimitrov, have shown positive results.

The number one on the ATP list, Serbian Djokovic, decided to return immediately to Serbia where, as he reported, he will see whether or not to make a buffer. Many other tennis players, such as the Croatian Marin Cilic, and coaches have been placed in home self-isolation on the orders of the epidemiological authorities.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, who went to Zadar for the tournament on Saturday and met Djokovic, as well as Croats Cilic and Goran Ivanisevic, will also do the swab. "The meeting lasted two to three minutes, there are no been handshakes, nor direct physical contact, but the prime minister decided to take the test anyway, "was reported by the government of Zagreb.

The regional and charity tournament, designed in Djokovic and directed by Ivanisevic, was also designed to return to the playing fields after the long break imposed by the quarantine. After the first two stages, in Belgrade and Zadar, the tournament was expected to continue in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in early July, and in Sarajevo on 5 July for a performance by Djokovic.

The Croatian press today published many photos of Dimitrov in close contact with hundreds of people and criticized the organizers for not taking precautionary measures and allowing mass gatherings. There is also fear of a negative impact on the perception abroad of safety on the Croatian coast in view of the tourist season, with the great media coverage that the outbreak in Zadar could have.
