22 June 2020 It is a hot record in Siberia: the village of Verkhoiansk recorded a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius on Saturday, almost double the seasonal average. Just over a thousand inhabitants, the village is located 4,600 km north-east of Moscow, beyond the Arctic circle, and is accustomed to extreme temperature changes: in 1892 it reached a record -67.8 degrees while the last January it found -57.2. In 1988 the heat had touched 37.3 and the average in this period is around 20 degrees.
