22 June 2020There is a mini red zone in Mondragone (Caserta) for residents in four buildings of public housing, the so-called 'ex Cirio complex', after the detection of eight positives at Covid 19. The President of the Region decided with an order Campania, Vincenzo De Luca, while the ASL of Caserta is being screened on the approximately 700 inhabitants, mainly immigrants and mostly of Bulgarian origin.

Until June 30, unless extended, the residents of these buildings - "heavily populated and in conditions of high promiscuity", reads the ordinance - will have to remain in home isolation: the Municipality will provide them with food. Law enforcement and the army will monitor compliance with the quarantine. In the meantime, in the whole municipality of Mondragone the obligation to wear a mask returns, even outdoors, until 30: a prescription that is no longer valid in the rest of the region from today.

A cordon sanitary will isolate the four former Cirio buildings, "We are building it - says mayor Virgilio Pacifico - as established by the meeting held today in the prefecture. There is concern, but the great synergy between the Municipality, the ASL, law enforcement agencies and Municipal Police, I'm sure it will guarantee the effectiveness of the intervention. " "The situation is under control for now - says the director of the ASL of Caserta Ferdinando Russo - we believe that by isolating the former Cirio buildings we will be able to control the infection. For now, negativities have emerged from the processed buffers, and this bodes well. "

The alarm was triggered by the positivity of a man of Bulgarian origin residing in the former Cirio buildings last week and that of a Bulgarian girl who gave birth at the Sessa Aurunca hospital on Friday, discovering that he was positive; the lneonato, as well as the father and brothers, were then negative. A few dozen residents had already been swabbed in recent days, then a mass screening operation was started between yesterday and today at the former Cirio buildings, with about 220 swabs processed (70 yesterday and 150 today); swabs were made to Bulgarian tenants of one of the buildings - made up of 11 floors - where the positive woman lived, in the next few days it will also be up to the other high-rise buildings and 7-800 swabs will be reached. "The positives - says the mayor - will go to Covid Hospital in Maddaloni, the others will remain in Mondragone and will be monitored constantly. We know that there are outbreaks in Bulgaria too, and it is not improbable that the cases of Coronavirus in the Bulgarian community of Mondragone were due to people who returned to Italy in recent days ".
