While all schools, cinemas, casinos and even holiday centers reopen Monday, June 22, discos will not be able to accommodate audiences until at least September, again due to the risks associated with the epidemic from Covid-19. A situation deemed unacceptable by many professionals. So that one of them, Mike Ludwig, the manager of "Tremplin" in Montauban-de-Bretagne, in Ille-et-Vilaine, decided on Sunday to start a hunger strike to alert the situation of the night world.

"I got there because we tried everything and we were forgotten", explains this nightclub boss at the microphone of Europe 1. "The reopening of September is still perhaps ", he points out. "I went on a hunger strike and stopped hydrating myself so that our president would be aware of our difficulties," he added.

"80% of nightclubs will die"

"Currently, discotheques benefit from partial unemployment and the abolition of wage costs. But the manager has been forgotten. I don't touch any more money. How can I make a living?", Explains Mike Ludwig . "In three months, I have accumulated 90,000 euros in debt. Leaving us closed for seven months is impossible to keep," he laments.

"We are going to endanger lives. Behind the word 'discotheque', there are families, jobs, there are a lot of people!" And to warn: "If tomorrow we don't have more aid, 80% of the discotheques will die." The Union of hotel trades and industries, which represents 1,500 nightclubs in France, has announced its intention to contest the continued closure of nightclubs before the Council of State. Besides nightclubs, it is also exhibitions, fairs, but also cruises which should remain closed until September.
