The computer system was acquired by Region Skåne and the Västra Götaland region and was to be used at health centers in both regions. The maximum value of the agreements amounted to a total of SEK 1 billion.

After SVT examined the procurement and IT system and found suspected irregularities and deficiencies, the collaboration with the supplier was interrupted and Region Skåne appointed an external investigation of the suspicions that emerged.

The investigation was conducted by the audit and consulting company PWC. On June 15 this year, the investigation was completed and the report was submitted to the region.

Following SVT's review - Region Skåne police report suspected corruption Photo: SVT / Firas Razak

May have given or received bribe

Region Skåne writes in its police report that: "There is reason to assume that rewarding and taking bribes have occurred in connection with a public procurement regarding digital health care system Vårdexpressen from the supplier Vårdinnovation Sverige AB."

The report submitted to the police's national anti-corruption group also shows that in addition to suspicion of bribery, PWC has made several other observations that may be of interest to the police.

SVT News Skåne has applied for Region Skåne's CFO Lars-Åke Rudin for a comment but he declines an interview, and Region Skåne's press department says that the region does not leave any more comments but awaits the police investigation.
