Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the Fête de la Musique is held this year according to strict health rules. Bars can host concerts, but only indoors, while spontaneous street concerts are prohibited.

REPORTAGE

This year, the Fête de la Musique will be special. While the coronavirus continues to circulate in France, after several months of epidemic, the 38th edition of the event promises to be turned upside down, in particular because of the necessary respect for social distancing. Contrary to usual, spontaneous concerts are thus prohibited, and only restaurants and bars will be able to organize concerts in drastic sanitary conditions.

On the side of the establishments concerned, we are therefore preparing to party, by completing the installation of the facilities, as at the vintage bar "Le Musical", in Lille.

Hydroalcoholic gel on the tables

In the bar, there is hydroalcoholic gel on the formica tables, while a direction of circulation is indicated on the checkered tiles. On the ceiling, a mirror ball is suspended, as are spotlights and light garlands.

If everything is planned for dancing and three amateur groups are to perform, Max, the boss, does not expect a big atmosphere. "It will be guitar-voice, with the people seated. It will not be very dancing, with the people around the table, a mask as soon as we get up and without remaining static." And to conclude: "It won't be crazy, but we do as we can".

Will the inhabitants be there?

Concerts are thus possible in bars, but only indoors. Sitting on a sidewalk is prohibited. Julie, who is used to celebrating Music, is suddenly less motivated this year. "I don't even know if I will do it," she hesitates. "I don't want to take unnecessary risks, to tell myself that I won't party before so as not to put myself in the crowd".

Beside her, her friend Antoine relies on everyone's civility. "If everyone plays the game, and respects the barrier gestures, there will be no problem," he said. For its part, the city invites musicians to stroll the streets to avoid any regrouping.
