Exactly how the proposal is to be drafted is not clear, but it is those who work and the pensioners who will receive reduced tax. The reform is intended to primarily benefit low- and middle-income earners.

- We have looked at a proposal where the person earning SEK 20,000 a month receives a full tax reduction of SEK 2,000 per year, says Center Party's temporary party leader Anders W Jonsson.

Should stimulate consumption and get more people into work

The idea is partly to get consumption started, but also, according to the Center Party, "to strengthen the incentives for those with the lowest incomes to go from contribution to work". So the difference in the wallet between contributions and low wages should be greater.

- There will be a difference. To make the most powerful effect for those with low incomes. 20,000, that's what you have if you have a low salary according to collective agreements, says Anders W Jonsson.

Retry after winter setback

Last winter, a united opposition to the right and left of Parliament - V, M, KD and SD - voted down the so-called input tax deduction. Reduced or eliminated employer contributions for young people and people who find it difficult to get jobs, such as new arrivals. It was part of the 73-point program and a heart issue for the Center.

Now the party is proposing this tax cut instead. Anders W Jonsson believes that the negotiations with the government will succeed.

- Yes, we will push this very hard on the part of the Center Party. And it is also true that in the budgets there is shaded space to make tax cuts. So we hope we get through this in the autumn budget.

The Center Party expects the reform to cost about SEK 8-10 billion.
