The conflict sprang up early last week. The ministers Carmen Calvo and José Luis Ábalos signed an argument in which the PSOE showed its rejection of the 'queer' theories that, in matters such as transsexuality, deny the existence of biological sex . The document opened a gap with United We Can, which does accept these theories. To try to clarify the wrong, no one better than Ángeles Álvarez (59), a former socialist deputy, veteran of feminism and the first parliamentarian who publicly declared that she was a lesbian.

Where does this conflict come from? People have to know what is sex and what is gender. The fundamental concern that feminism has at the moment is that the substitution of the category "sex" for the category "gender" leads to the dissolution of the category "woman". And it also erases, of course, men. gender Gender is not an identity category. Gender is a cultural construct that works precisely to build the hierarchy on which discrimination against women is based, that patriarchal androcentric model. So what is the debate? The debate is whether gender is something to protect, as identity, or if it is precisely a system to abolish. And the latter is what feminism has always defended. Instead, the cultural differences that are imposed on men and women now we want to turn into an identity. They are accused of transphobia for defending this. There is no confrontation with transsexual people. In fact, right now many are saying that they are transsexual people and biology is there. What there is is a sector of people who deny biology. They are also called "TERF", an acronym for "radical trans-exclusionist feminist". It seems to me a very dangerous harassment to use this concept as a throwing weapon. It is a word invented by 'queer' generism which means "shut up". It serves to silence those people who do not agree with the fact that gender discomforts, for example, occur with transsexuality. In what sense? Most women are very unhappy with the gender imposed on us . But discomfort with sex is not the same as discomfort with gender. In your case, for example? I did not like to wear dresses, have long hair, paint my nails, or wear heels. This is all gender discomfort, but I have never had discomfort with my sex. Another thing is that there is a lot of pressure to consider that a certain model is more feminine. But it is stupid, it does not deserve the slightest comment. How does this conflict have to do with identity? In identity discourse it does not matter whether we are talking about nationalisms or this: it is always divisive. It is surprising that it is precisely on the left, which has always been an internationalist, where this destructive parasite has settled. And also that they are movements that we suppose progressive who are giving place to identity discourses that all they do is provoke a confrontation. Because a perception, an internal feeling, does not change reality. What has changed to get to this point? Feminism has coexisted with transsexual reality without any problem. But the 'queer' theories have been made with all the symbolic and strategic capital, in terms of social movements, that the LGTB movement had. Because 'queer' not only erases women, but also gays and lesbians. And most LGBT people are not about to endorse these premises. In fact, in the UK LGBs have already separated from the LGBTQ + movement. What do you think is more delusional about this issue? We meet people who say that a lesbian woman who does not want to have relationships with a person with male genitality would be transphobic. We are entering a spiral of the absurd in which everything is intended to be renamed and redefined. Also biology? It is said that biology does not exist and that the sex category must legally disappear. But sex, biological reality, is not assigned, it is observed. What political reading does it make of the attitude of United We Can? They are taking advantage of the fact that they have one leg in the Government of Spain to use laws with a lot of social demand, such as It can be the Sexual Violence Law or the Childhood Law to introduce all these elements without Spanish society being aware of. We have an international document that gives guidelines on how to sneak all this into legislation without provoking social debate. This, for feminism, is very serious. And how do you assess the position of the State Federation of Lesbian, Gay, Trans and Bisexual (FELGTB)? The sexual option is not an ideological option. Still, we have some organizations that monopolize the ideological message that the LGBT movement intends to send and position themselves in favor of the legalization of prostitution, the reproductive exploitation of women or laws that erase and make women disappear precisely. Instead of working on the common issues related to civil rights that affect us as people who have different sexual options, they are getting into ideological puddles. It is a major mistake that will be seen over time. Do you think the worst consequences of this doctrine are? For example, the increase in cases of rapid onset gender dysphoria. Overnight they go and say they are 'trans'. Especially in people who have no previous history of discomfort with their sex. How is it possible that the number of pubescent children who are demanding to transition has suddenly multiplied by 4,400%? Or that we see people who, even when they are still minors, are initiating the processes of transition. When, in addition, one of the first things that is done in girls is, precisely, mutilate the breasts. What do you think about the role of the Academy? Sex exists, it's there. The Academy is very responsible for all this fuss. And what is truly surprising that the universities are accepting, for example, that in the official statistics, which they are supposed to give letter of respect at the moment they put their seal, they are allowing things to be introduced such as eliminating the concept of sex as a statistical indicator to replace it with the concept of gender, which has to do with a feeling. It is absolutely unscientific and irrational. In the USA most of the chairs are financed by private foundations. And we have started to analyze who is behind it.
