Two young men of 17 and 15 years old died drowning this Saturday afternoon while bathing in an irrigation canal near Don Benito (Badajoz). Specifically, the event occurred in a secondary channel of the Orellana reservoir, between the minor towns of Hernán Cortés and Valdehornillos.

The first information indicates that the two teenagers were together with a group of friends on the channel spending the afternoon. The health teams from the 112 Emergency Center who have come to the scene have been unable to do anything to save the lives of the two minors.

The 112 Extremadura Urgent Care Center has received a call about 6:00 p.m. reporting that a young man was unconscious and another was trapped in the water. 112 has mobilized a helicopter and an emergency medical unit based both in Don Benito.

It has also activated the health workers at the Santa Amalia Continuous Care Point, the Local Police in this town, the Don Benito Red Cross, the Civil Guard and firefighters from the Don Benito-Villanueva de la Serena park.
