The issue has been hotly debated in the spring and the government has been pressured by both municipalities and the Parliament's social committee to temporarily change the legislation, due to the spring corona pandemic.

Already in May, eleven municipalities along the west coast appealed to temporarily cancel the obligation to offer summer guests home service this summer.

There has also been a majority for a temporary change of law in the Riksdag. But now the government announces that there will be no change in the law.

Social Minister Lena Hallengren does not want to post an interview today, but leaves a written comment to SVT News via her press secretary:

“The legislative change that C, M, KD and SD have requested in the announcement is complicated and requires thorough legal analysis. The signals I received during the spring also indicate that the municipalities themselves have succeeded in solving this through dialogue. ”

The government should have announced the decision to the Social Committee on Wednesday.

- We are very disappointed. We see the invasion of tourists here now and it does not feel great that the elderly, the group we should cherish, are in the middle of all this. It doesn't rhyme at all. We will continue to say no, says Orust's municipal councilor Catharina Bråkenhielm (S).
